273/365 - Jim - Nolie

I took some pictures of Nolan a while back on a black background and didn't realize the flashes were not turned up enough until I got them on the computer. So I wanted to do some re-shooting. This time it worked out well and I got some nice shots. Especially some close-up photos that I really liked. I was mostly happy that I was able to expose his eyes properly and show how they are becoming more blue. I'll definitely print some of these for the family and the wall.

240/365 - Jim - Water

This was very difficult to photograph. I painted the formula with water and a paintbrush onto a piece of Plexiglas. Then put it about 8 inches above a blue foam sheet. I had to get at an angle that would produce the white edges otherwise it looked very flat. Getting it in focus well enough was hard for some reason. I finally got an image that worked, but the Plexiglas had all kinds of imperfections, so I edited them out with Photoshop. I don't know why it was difficult, but it was.

191/365 - Jim - Once in a Blue Moon

It was getting late and I hadn't taken any photos yet. I noticed the moon was full so I headed out to get a shot. I made it blue by setting my white balance to tungsten. I've taken many shots of the moon over the last couple years, but haven't gotten any closer to 200mm. There are telescopes that have adapters that you can connect a Nikon camera to for photographs, but that can be pretty expensive just for moon shots. I would like to try a Phoenix 650-2600mm Telephoto Lens that sells for around $250. The aperture is f/8 - 16 so it wouldn't be very useful for many things other than moon shots, but would still be fun.

078/365 - Jim - Blue Hat

When my first son Jameson was born I took a photo of him with my old Canon Powershot 710 IS. It has a feature that will allow you to select a color and only that color comes through. All of the family loved it and called it the "blue hat picture." We took Jameson's old hat to the hospital today and I took a blue hat picture of Nolan, but this time I did the effect in Lightroom by desaturating everything but the blue.

041/365 - Jim - Blue Smoke

I went to the Steeler game today and took my point and shoot camera. If you saw the game, you'll know why I was disgusted and didn't post any of those pictures. Instead, right before midnight I set up a candle and a flash. I lit the candle and blew it out then snapped some photos. To make the smoke blue, I changed the white balance to tungsten. The glass holder was desaturated to black and white in post processing.

011/365 - Jim - Blue Eyes

Theme is blue. This is my son, Jameson. His blue eyes were requested for this entry, so I had to take this photo. They aren't as blue as they were when he was younger, so I desaturated all color except blue and then increased the vibrance in Lightroom. To get Jameson to sit still, we let him watch Thomas & Friends.

Oh man... I'm so behind. I was extremely busy this weekend and I finally got some time this morning to take some photos. That Giant Eagle help center will be the death of me. Anyways... This is really the only cool picture I had of something blue. I found some blue marbles and tossed them in a blue vase.
