( f/5.6 105mm 1/25 sec ISO 200 Nikon D300 )
I have been growing this basil in my office window for a while now. I let it get a little too dry and the leaves all curled up goofy. The late afternoon light coming through the window back lit the basil really nicely.

249/365 - Jim - Growing the Green
( f/8 60mm 1/125 sec ISO 200 Nikon D300 )
Back to stock photos... I wanted to do something interesting so I started looking at iStockPhoto.com to get some ideas. I tried to think of a common word and ended up searching for "money". There were a lot of cool shots on there, but one had money coming out of a little pot very similar to this one. I remembered my son had this pot in his sandbox, so I cleaned it out and started working on my origami skills. It's not great, but pretty close to what I had envisioned. I think out of all my attempts at stock photos, this one could actually earn more than $4.

230/365 - Jim - Hostas
( f/11 24mm 1/40 sec ISO 640 Nikon D300 )
This hosta is in my back yard by my pool. I am going to need to transplant it if I want to keep it because it is right where my addition will be. This wasn't a very interesting photo, so I applied an effect using Photoshop to give it all the individual little photos. It was so easy. I've done this manually before with several close-up photos of the same scene. It takes a long time!

117/365 - Jim - Argus Borders
( f/22 105mm 1/250 sec ISO 200 Nikon D300 )
Theme is borders. I set up an old Argus Seventy-five camera and shot at the viewfinder. Since it is so old, there is all kinds of dust and crud on the glass. I cleaned off what I could reach, but it left the edges dirty and whatever was on the inside of the camera. This gives it an old photo look. If I wanted it to make it look even older, I could have warmed the image. I have been wanting to try this for a while and finally got the chance. There is a group on flickr called Through the Viewfinder that has a collection of photos like this.

107/365 - Sherri - Wall Flower
( f/2.7 6mm 1/64 sec ISO 80 Kodak Easyshare C813 )
My guest blogger today is my sister. She sent me the picture, but didn't really give me a good description, so I'll just paste part of the email. Here is plant. I tried taking pictures of a bamboo plant which is my favorite...but didn't go well. My camera sucks. 8. something pixels. Oh, well, it was fun. This was off my wall in the hall way. I used my lamp in my living room that has an umbrella type outside around it to try to make it look good....ha.
107/365 - Jim - Cool Plant
( f/18 105mm 1/125 sec ISO 200 Nikon D300 )
Theme is plant. This is one of the very few plants that I have in my house. I don't know what it is called. One of my friends died several years back and this plant was from his funeral. So every time I see it, it reminds me of him. This thing gets neglected at times, but I think it will last forever. I love how it is so bright and looks as cool as a flower. If you know what it is called, let me know.
